The Matronage is an art gallery and design studio that collaborates with contemporary artists and preserves the legacies of historically under-archived artists, particularly from the Black diaspora.

Birthed out of Washington, DC by Adeyemi Adewunmi, the gallery-studio hybrid provides a unique platform for artists and a distinct lens for collectors who value truth-telling and cognitive justice.

The program for Art The Hague is an exhibition of global artists whose practices engage cultural art-making techniques and native materials. The artworks reflect on themes of personal identity and memory, opening a dialogue for viewers to consider how they see themselves as denizens of the world.

Leon Willis is a contemporary artist from PG County, Maryland. Through portraiture, ceremonial adornment and a visual language shaped by editorial beauty and fashion, Willis honors the human form. He uses cultural references, color, gesture, and symbols, to explore how to preserve memory through expression.

Charles Philippe Jean-Pierre is a Haitian American multidisciplinary artist groomed on Chicago’s south side. He is currently an adjunct professor at American University in Fine Arts. As U.S. State Department Art in Embassies Artist, his work is now in the permanent collection of the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou, Benin West Africa.
